20th Century Art

Influenced by the mentor Mr. Kusuo Shimizu, the pioneering gallerist of post-war Japan, Mono Art has been introducing 20th century masters with emphasis, particularly works by Marcel Duchamp, Le Corbusier and Man Ray. Recently we also start focusing on Japanese artists active around 80’s, who strongly influenced younger, internationally recognized artists.

Modern
Japanese Lacquer

The art of lacquerware can be found many parts of east Asia, but Japan has been developing unique, sophisticated technique. Use of black, red and gold represents traditional Japanese lacquerware, whereas recently invented multi-colored lacquer and applying various natural / metallic materials significantly enhance its possibility of expression together with body designing. Mono Art is supporting those modern lacquer artists and introducing the exquisite beauty of Japan to the world.
